Introduzione
A customer came to us with a reference image of a fishing cap and asked about customization,
but their fabric thinking was still based on the logic of an ordinary baseball cap.
Why don’t we recommend this? Because the fabric choice directly determines whether the cap can handle outdoor use.
① Look at usage duration first, then choose quick-dry fabric
Are you outdoors for half a day, or the whole day?
For half-day use, polyester quick-dry fabric is basically enough.
For all-day outdoor use, I would go further and consider nylon performance fabric,
paired with breathable mesh panels, so the cap stays lighter and more breathable during long wear.
Fabric choice should match the usage scenario. Simply chasing “performance fabric” doesn’t mean much.
② Sun protection is not just about UPF50+
Many customers ask right away: can you make it UPF50+?
Yes, but a cap’s sun protection also depends on fabric structure, color, finishing, and brim coverage.
Especially for fishing caps, under long hours of sun exposure, brim width and cap structure matter just as much.
So when we develop a cap, we evaluate fabric performance together with the cap shape.
③ Breathability involves both fabric and structure
For long hours of summer fishing, head heat directly affects the experience.
The crown can use breathable mesh, ventilation holes, or performance fabric panels.
Some fabrics are breathable themselves, but if the cap structure is too enclosed, it still feels hot when worn.
So breathability in a fishing cap cannot be judged by fabric specs alone.
④ Outdoor use also requires weather resistance
Fishing caps are often exposed to sunlight, sweat, and water.
During development, we also need to look at abrasion resistance, color fastness, and wash stability.
Some casual fabrics look and feel great, but in long-term outdoor use, their resistance to sun, sweat, and washing needs to be re-evaluated.
If you are a fishing brand, club, or tournament team preparing to make custom caps, we suggest considering these points:
① Usage scenario
Half-day outdoor / all-day outdoor / long hours of sun exposure
② Cap style direction
Baseball cap / fishing bucket hat / wide-brim hat
③ Logo method
Embroidery / heat transfer / woven label
The clearer you are about the scenario and requirements, the easier it is for the factory to determine the right fabric, shape, and craft, and the faster sampling communication will be.

If you already have a reference image for a fishing cap, you can also prepare the reference image + usage scenario + estimated quantity first, then talk to the factory. It will be much more efficient.
