Pattern starts from the head shape
Kids’ heads are closer to a round shape, with a fuller forehead. The front panel curve of the hat needs to follow this structure. The crown depth is adjusted to wrap the head comfortably without pressing on the forehead, creating softer overall lines.
Adult heads are more three-dimensional, especially at the back. The crown depth and side panel angles are more open, giving the hat better support and a more defined shape.
Once the pattern is done right, both stability and comfort improve naturally.
