A Sport Paired With A Hat Style

Intro

Hats aren’t just an everyday accessory but are essential for sports. If a sport is paired with a hat, I’m sure many people have their own choices and answers. Here are my thoughts for those who like sports to share and discuss.

1. Baseball

As the name suggests, the baseball cap originated from the sport of baseball. In 1839, an American named Doubleday organized a cricket tournament and had the players wear hats to protect them from the sun. Because cricket is similar to baseball, this is the earliest known baseball cap.

Why do you need to wear a hat during a baseball game? A baseball is small and hard, and it travels incredibly fast. Even a split second of interference from sunlight or artificial light can obscure the ball’s path. Even a fraction of a second can lead to a missed reaction time, resulting in a mistake or injury. This can be extremely dangerous, with serious consequences. Therefore, a flat-brimmed baseball cap is essential when playing baseball.

2. Marathon & Running

Wearing a hat while running can have many benefits, such as sweat absorption, sun protection, safety, etc. There is no doubt that the most suitable hat for running is the visor cap.

3. Skateboard

Supreme is a well-known skateboarding brand, and the camping hat is a modified version of the cycling hat by Supreme. Therefore, the 5 panel camping cap is the perfect partner for skateboarding.

4. Tennis

The most suitable hats for tennis are a visor cap and a headband. The headband can restrain hair from blowing in the wind and absorb sweat left during exercise. The visor cap can also provide sun protection.

5.Golf

Golf is an outdoor sport, and besides clubs, a hat is essential. The ideal hat for golf is either a golf cap or a flat cap. Golf caps and baseball caps are similar in shape, with curved brims and breathable, quick-drying fabric. The Nike Golf line also includes a peaked cap, which is also a great choice.

Some golf caps have more special functions, such as adsorbing ballmarkers on the caps.

6. Bicycle

In formal cycling competitions, riders are required to wear helmets for safety protection. However, during normal training or when amateur riders are riding, they still choose to wear a cycling cap.

7. Horse Racing

In the United Kingdom, equestrian events are essential elements of the social calendar, and are accompanied by competition during the social seasons and hats of a very specific style. In the rest of Europe, the pauses in between the equestrian events serve as an opportunity for women to display their fashion. Before the events, women and their personal milliners work for hours and focus on the hats as the only goal is to be noticed. Often, a single hat can be priced at over a thousand pounds. For significant events, broadcasters invite guests to discuss women’s hats on live television. Thus, hats are of great importance in equestrianism.

In official races, the jockeys are expected to use the more formal riding headgear which is a riding helmet as required by different horse racing regulatory bodies around the globe.

In training, some jockeys are more prone to wearing lighter helmets or hats, although, other safety measures are always top of the checklist.

Some helmets contain special built software which allows the user to talk to the coach and vice versa, while the user is riding.

8. Outdoor Mountaineering & Hiking

The most suitable hat for outdoor hiking and trekking is a large, round-brimmed hat. The hat’s basin should be wide and large to provide maximum coverage. Some hats are also waterproof, making them more convenient than an umbrella during a light rain.

9. Skiing

Winter sports are different from summer sports. Hats are mainly used to keep warm. Knitted hats are a must.
