I. The concept of jacquard

Jacquard fabrics can be divided into single and two-color jacquards as well as satin jacquards.

Plain jacquard fabrics are produced using a jacquard loom and dyed after weaving, producing solid color fabrics. Multicolor jacquard fabrics use yarn dyed prior to being woven on the jacquard loom; therefore these yarn-dyed jacquard fabrics have more than two colors with vivid hues without monotony, strong three dimensional patterns, wider width options without limitation and no shrinkage, pilling, or fading issues.

Soft, delicate, smooth fabric featuring unique qualities of softness, delicacy, smoothness, good sheen, drape and breathability and high color fastness (yarns are dyed). Large jacquard fabrics feature elaborate patterns with distinct color layers for strong three-dimensionality while small jacquard fabrics feature simpler or monotonous patterns.

Satin Jacquard fabric: When warp and weft yarns are interlaced at least three yarns apart, satin weave creates thicker fabric density than regular plain and twill weave fabrics; their cost tends to be more expensive as well. Satin fabrics have front and back sides featuring minimal weave points in one complete weave cycle and the longest floating lines; their surface contains almost entirely warp or weft float lines which give soft fabric surfaces with smooth and delicate surfaces with high luster; the most commonly found type is known as satin stripe.

Jacquard fabric: The pattern on the fabric is woven, not ordinary printing, nor embroidery. When the fabric is woven, the warp and weft structures are changed to form a flower pattern. The yarn count is fine, the needle density is high, and it is not deformed or faded when used, with good comfort. Currently, jacquard is very popular in the market, and the bedding of satin is high-grade and tasteful. To distinguish the quality of satin, it is necessary to compare the yarn count and density.

II.What are the differences between jacquard, printing and embroidery

The patterns of the prints are printed on the fabrics with dyes or pigments, and the colors are bright and rich;

The pattern of jacquard is formed by the change of fabric texture, which has a decorative and high-end feel;

The flower pattern of embroidery is made by embroidering the fabric with embroidery threads, and the flower pattern can be changed freely.

Printing is flat, while jacquard is plain but has complex mechanisms. Embroidery is done on fabrics, which is flexible, highly customizable, and can be produced in bulk.

III. Features of “jacquard”

Jacquard fabrics have prominent patterns and a three-dimensional effect. The weaving principle is to form patterns using changes in warp and weft organization.

Advantages: Jacquard fabric is novel and beautiful in style, with a textured feel. It can be woven into different patterns and form different color contrasts based on different fabric backgrounds. It is popular among those who are tired of sameness and pursue innovative fashion. Visually, there will be a sense of color variation, with the raised colors being heavier, but only relative to the same color family of fabrics. Another type is a fabric that is itself patterned, with the pattern woven into it.

Finally, its performance is excellent. The surface of the silk is smooth, with a silky luster, smooth and delicate, soft, moisture-absorbing and breathable, light and thin, with good thermal insulation properties, water-resistant, not easily deformed, and non-pilling. It is a typical environmentally friendly fabric with a very good texture.

Disadvantages: It is easy to fade, and over time it can easily lose its elasticity. When washing, it cannot be exposed to excessive sunlight. Its rough texture and stiff feel make many consumers intimidated.
